Kicking off our fun filled weekend, John and I did something we never do. We had dinner together without any kids, got dressed up, and went out!!!!! The Defense College hosted a cocktail party and our GREAT friends Phill and Wendy graciously and generously watched all 3 of our girlies for us - even had a sleepover for Emma and Lily (aren't they brave??) It was a great time! It was so fun chatting away with our British, Kiwi, and Aussie friends (and many others) at the college and it gave me a chance to realize how exciting it is to form friendships with a new "Global" perspective! Everyone has a unique story and it's refreshing to be able to experience people from all different walks of life. Here we are below - all "gussied up" as my friend from New Zealand might say. Thank You Phillo and Wendy - you and your girls are answered prayer in action!
4th of July was cold this year! So funny to have our "summer holiday" in the middle of winter. I had to get a little creative with the girls "all american" outfits as all our patriotic wear was summer friendly. Nothing a few turtle necks and some jeans couldn't fix! We had a small get together with some of our U.S. friends and had a very traditional all american picnic, complete with hamburgers, hotdogs, baked beans, hot potato salad, buffalo chicken dip, new york cheese cake, and apple pie. The kids played outside as the sun came out and warmed up the afternoon a bit. We enjoyed great company and conversation and had the little bits of America that we'd all been homesick for. We even had fireworks, although not on the 4th; the U.S. Embassy hosted a fun Independence Day event with fireworks on Friday!!
What a better way to get an Army Family Picture than on the 4th in our RW&B's! Even little Jana, now 7 weeks old, got a new dress (thank you Aunt Bobbi) and was in a good mood for her first Independence Day! Being away from home makes us even more proud to be Americans and to be from a Nation whose foundations have been laid by patriots, unashamed and unafraid to stand and fight for the cause of freedom and liberty. God Bless American and God Bless those who have paid the ultimate price to protect and defend our great Nation!
It is so weird to see you guys in jeans and long sleeved shirts after all the pictures of sun dresses and shorts since you have been down under. Was a stark reminder of just how far away you guys really are physically but still very close at hand in our hearts. Jana has gotten so big since the last time I got caught up on your blog-what a little cutie she is. Loved the blog about Lily sharing her blanket with her little sister-too sweet. Can tell in the pictures that Emma is a fabulous big sister to Jana. You guys are truely blessed. Once again, thanks so very much for taking the time to keep us up to date with the happenings in the Moris family. Love you all lots-Nana Milne
