Boxes and Papers and Toys, Oh My

It's the little things.....sleeping in your own bed, playing with toys you haven't seen in 2 months, watching football in your own recliner and eating dinner together as a family at your own kitchen table. These are the first Christmas gifts we've received this holiday season, making us appreciate all that we have so much more! The movers showed up at our house yesterday morning and all our things showed up in great shape, minus a few scrapes and scratches on furniture - more that we could have hoped for in our first overseas move. While our friends on the East Coast of the U.S. were buried in 2 feet of snow, we were sweating, unpacking lots of boxes and mentally organizing our new home. There's nothing quite like being home - and we finally really feel like we're there. The only thing we're missing is the Christmas spirit. It's hard for us to remember that we're approaching our favorite holiday and it will be a Christmas miracle if we get the girls gifts wrapped before Friday morning. But, we found a great church and on Christmas morning we'll be able to get up and go celebrate our Savior's Birth together as a family and that's really what it's all about. The move has actually been a nice distraction from the sensationalism of Christmas and we're hoping to spend this Christmas celebrating what is really important about the day - Jesus' birth!

Here are a few pics from our move in day!

This is what happens when you let a few little girls unpack a box of their own toys...at least they are all in one room.

This is how Mommy made it through the morning full of dust, rocks that came in from the driveway, screaming over excited little girls and general chaos!! Thank goodness for the thin candy shell of satisfaction - yummm!

(Not a pic of our move) This past week, we had a chance to go to the Australian Royal Mint. We learned all about the currency in Australia. Emma thought that the name of one of their first coins was funny - it was called a "dump". Here is a picture of John and the girls minting their very own, uncirculated $1 coin - their first official Aussie Souvenir.

  1. Looks like the Lord has provided another fabulous house for the Moris family. Sunshine at Christmas brings back fond memories of our Christmas' on Maui. I know what you mean when you say it is hard to feel Christmas when you are in your shorts and flip flops but like you said just keep Christ in your Christmas and you can celebrate in any kind of weather.
